Out and About

Quick post today...out and about in the rain. You're probably wondering why I'm wearing my sunnies when its raining. It's simple, I'm not wearing make up! Sunnies are the best cover up. I really like this new skirt. I found it at a thrift store for $4 dollars, and it was half off purple tag day. It had a purple tag. Amazing find! Enjoy.

Carly

Test Video: Aldo Shoes

A couple of weeks back, my best friend James and I met our blogger idols Bethany Struble and Peter Adrian. It's funny because we've been told that we sort of look like a mini version of them! Anyways, when talking to them, they were giving us great advice and they suggested making a video. James and I both work for Aldo Shoes so we decided to make a little practice video on the shoe/style topic, wearing our Aldo Shoes. Our good friend Daniel Yonathan grabbed his camera and shot us for a day then edited and made this video! Our next video is soon to come...please leave us any feedback you want, it all helps a ton! Enjoy :)

Abandoned Castle

Again, thanks to Kayla Aihara my photo life is complete. Me and a few friends went to what seemed like an old castle like property. Pretty sure you can see my friend Hayley in the back of a few of my pictures. We went to this location to take pictures for my best friend James's costume design portfolio. (You will be hearing a lot about James, he's my best friend). Those costume pictures will be soon to come. Anyways, I just had to snap a couple of outfit shots while at this unbelievable abandoned castle. Enjoy.
Xoxo,
Carly

As We Settle

So I did another quick shoot with Kayla Aihara and we headed out to Victory Trails. The sun was setting beautifully and it was a perfect time to capture some shots. This is one of my favorite spots in the valley and I love how it takes you into a whole other world. This place gives you a moment to settle down and take a moment away from our own busy lives.
                                                           Xoxo,

Touch of Green

This is my first outfit post! I had a great time shooting this with Carly and one of her old friend's Kayla. Kayla happens to be an amazing photographer and it was fun to have someone else take our pictures. We decided it would be fun to shoot at my old high school and Carly's current school. It always brings back so many memories when stepping foot on that campus. It also reminds me how much has changed since being in high school. I decided to throw on some black pants, my black booties, and my favorite jacket. I do tend to lean towards black when picking out clothes, but thats why I decided to add in the leather jacket with green sleeves to add some color. One of my classic outfits with a touch of green.
XOXO,
Nicole

Chucks&Denim

First outfit post for me on the blog, and it feels so good! Yesterday, Nicole and I had planned to do a photo shoot with an old friend. While getting ready, I was of course contemplating which outfit I was going to wear.  Two gigantic closets between two girls, and of course we always say we have nothing to choose from. The early hour of  8 o'clock AM consisted of  nothing but throwing around leather jackets, tight pants and dressy shirts. By 9, I was on the verge of ripping my hair out. I was about just going to call it quits, when I  stumbled across this old thrifted denim dress in the back of my closet and said, hey! haven't worn this in a while! I grabbed my chucks and decided it was going to be a denim&chucks kind of day.

INTRODUCING

Hello my name is Nicole. I am currently attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where I am studying Business Management and I recently just earned my Associate of Arts degree in Visual Communications from here as well. Attending FIDM has opened up my eyes to so many career possibilities that my mind is beginning to change (which I figured would happen). I was a visual merchandiser (I helped open a new store called Love Story) and it was an amazing experience, but I am learning that I want to try all different aspects of the fashion industry. Interning for LOOKBOOK.nu was truly an amazing experience and it made me realize that I love being a part of a production. I love to see things come to life from paper to reality. For now I am working at Anthropologie, which is my dream store to work at. I did apply 3 times to 3 different Anthropologies, but like they say third time is a charm and I finally got in. I am learning that in this industry you have to have to be so persistent to get what you want. This is not an easy industry to enter, but I can honestly say that I am ready for it. Fashion really has become my everything.

Hey there my name is Carly. I am your not so average high school senior. I knew since the sixth grade I wanted to attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and study Visual Communications. It has been my dream school since then and I have only six more months until I am there! During high school I have made it a point to do everything I can to better prepare myself for the fashion industry. I have been working in retail for two years now and I am currently at ALDO shoes. I have gained skills that I know will contribute to success in my future. Besides working in retail I live to compete! I compete in costume design competitions and I found a true passion in doing so. I also intern for designer, Ani Lee. Interning for Ani Lee has been a wonderful experience and I can't wait to be even further in the industry. For now I am going to focus on my fashion line for my school's upcoming fashion show along with one of my last costume design competitions. Just counting down the days till I take my first steps on to the FIDM campus as a FIDM student. Fashion has become my way of life.

URBAN PALETTE. Finally our blog has come to life. We talked about doing a blog for a long time and we finally made time and made it happen. Although we know the blogging world has become huge we figured it would be amazing to share our own journey though photographs and document our lives.

These two first met when Nicole was a senior in high school and Carly was a freshman. Nicole was getting ready for the school's annual fashion show and she was scouting for models. Carly sent in an application to be a model and Nicole stumbled across her picture. We can pretty much say the rest is history.

We were brought together through fashion and fashion is where we will continue to grow.

XOXO

2013. A new year with new beginnings. One year alone can have a huge impact on one person's life and we are ready to impact others. We are creating this blog to let all of our passions be shown and document our daily lives.  We believe inspiration is the best type of motivation there is. The best feeling is getting inspired to do something new. Always remember to be the person you want to be. Have a great 2013, with new beginnings and great endings. Xoxo...Nicole & Carly
